Assignments - Week 17

Here are your suggested assignments for this week.

Essentials

Wednesday:
  • Review the memory work for weeks 1-9.
  • Review the memory work for week 17.
  • In the EEL guide, read and review pages 199-200.
  • Additional practice sentences are below. Work through sentences 1,2 and 3 using tasks 1-5.

Thursday:

  • Review the memory work for weeks 13-17.
  • In the EEL guide, complete the exercises found on pages 201 (editing exercise).
  • From the practice sentences, complete sentence 4 and 5 using tasks 1-5.

Friday:

  • Review the memory work for weeks 13-17.
  • In the EEL guide, complete the exercises foud on pages 204-205.
  • From the practice sentences, complete setences 6 -8 using tasks 1-5.

Monday:

  • Review the memory work for weeks 1-17.
  • Pick random charts from weeks 1-12 to complete.
  • In the EEL guide, complete the advanced exercises found n pages 207-208.
  • From the practice sentences, complete sentences 9 and 10 using tasks 1-5.

Memory Work Week 17

  1. What is an Object Complement Adjective? It is an adjective that appears after the direct object that describes what happened to the direct object as a result of the action of the verb.
  2. What questions do we ask to verify an OCA? Subject, verb, direct object,.....what? Does (word) rename or or replace the direct object? If no.... Does the (word) describe the direct object? If yes....then label OCA
  3. What is the definition of a limiting adjective? A limiting adjcetive points out "which," w"which one," or "how many."
  4. What is a descriptive adjective? A descriptive adjective describes or qualifies the meaning of a noun or pronoun and tells "what kind."
  5. What is a possessive adjective? An adjective that shows possession or ownership and tells "whose."
  6. Name the sentence pattern that has an OCA. S-Vt-DO-OCA

Practice Sentences for week 17

Edit each sentence. Find the structure, purpose, and pattern using your task questions. Then, diagram each sentence.

IEW Assignments for Week 17 - Writing from pictures

Wednesday:

  • Draw or pick out 3 pictures to write about this week.
  • Construct a KWO from the pictures.
  • Remember to start with the central fact, add supporting details
  • Add your clincher (should repeat/reflect central fact)
  • Study vocabulary from lessons 1-6.
  • Start writing paragraph 1 from your pictures.
  • Be sure to add pertinent information - setting, characters, etc.
  • Make sure to add a topic sentence and clincher sentence in your paragraph.

Thursday:

  • Re-read paragraph 1.
  • Start writing paragraph 2 from your choosen pictures.
  • Add topic and clincher sentences.
  • Clincher sentences should repeat/reflect 2-3 words from topic sentence.
  • Study vocabulary from lessons 7-12.

Friday:

  • Re-read parpagraphs 1 and 2.
  • Construct paragraph 3.
  • Add topic/clincher sentences.
  • Study vocabulary from lessons 13-18.

Monday:

  • Add required dress-ups and decorations to your paper.
  • Study all vocabulary. We'll have a fun quiz next week.
  • Come ready to share your papers and artwork!
